Developing A Values-Driven Culture
Session Description:
Values are inherent to all organizations. They guide business practices and day-to-day decision making. How well does your team know what your department’s values are? How do they tie those values to your mission? This session will discuss methods of surfacing the inherent values and leveraging them to promote the clarity and intentionality of business activity in your workplace.

Presenter: John Dodson, CPLP is a Senior Trainer who has been with EDFUND since prior to its inception in 1997. Working out of the Human Resources Division, John's work has included managing corporate-wide training and development initiatives, implementing and managing Corporate Climate Surveys, managing Company wide conferences for EDFUND staff and numerous other initiatives aligned with learning and Development. Of course, the clarification and application of core values into action at EDFUND is among his most enjoyable on the job experiences. He has a Bachelors degree in Rhetoric and Communication from UC Davis and a Masters degree in Organizational Communication from Sacramento State University. In 2006, John was among the pioneer group to achieve the international designation of Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP).

Financial Planning for the Financial Aid Professional
Session Description:
This session is for everyone who is interested in learning more about financial planning and investment choices. This session will cover investment options such as mutual funds, tax-free municipal bonds, and more. Learn best practices on how to manage your personal finances and how and when to build a portfolio. Above all, you will be able to pass this valuable information on to your parents and graduating students when asked for financial guidance on questions like, “If I had a pool of money, would it be better to pay down my student loan first or invest in other options?”

Presenter: Richard Lyons is a Vice President – Wealth Management, Financial Planning Specialist, Portfolio Manager in the Portfolio Management Program and Resident Manager of the Portsmouth office Smith Barney, a division of Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. He has been dedicated to providing sound investment advice based on thorough and timely research since 1984. A graduate of Colby College with a degree in economics, Richard now lives in Portsmouth with his wife Joan and children Daniel and Christina. A dedicated professional who spends long hours at work, Richard likes to break away for fun and relaxation by skiing, golfing and spending time with his family.

In the second part of this double-session learn more about how you can present to a greater audience through NHASFAA’s Speaker’s Bureau. You are an expert in your field and can be of great help to individuals who are overwhelmed by the financial aid process. Anna Clifford and Zanna Blaney, will provide details to presenting at local NH high schools and speak to the rewards of giving back to your community.

Anna Clifford, the NHASFAA Speaker’s Bureau Chairperson, is an Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Southern New Hampshire University and has been with the University since 1999. Anna has previously served on the NHASFAA Conference Committee. She holds BS in Business Management from Green Mountain College and lives in Allenstown NH. When Anna’s not at SNHU, she is a Red Sox fan, and bowls.
Zanna Blaney is a Senior College Counselor in the Center for College Planning at the NHHEAF Network Organizations. Zanna meets individually with hundreds of NH families each year assisting with both admission and financial aid. She leads the Discover U initiative, an early college awareness program and is the voice behind the Ask Joe College campaign. She has increased awareness tremendously with families as part of CCP’s outreach efforts in both the North Country and with foster families.
