Presenter: Carol Stanmore is the Associate Director of Student Financial Services at Keene State College and starting her 27th year in the field of financial aid. Her job titles have included Loan Officer, Assistant, Associate, and Director of Financial Aid. She has held several positions in the Washington State Association of Financial Aid Administrators and often a presenter at State Conferences. Carol presented at the 2006 Annual Conference and is a member of the NHASFAA Conference Committee.

Carol feels fortunate to have worked in institutions of higher education located in three of the four corners of the United States; Washington State, Florida and New Hampshire. These were her venues for a 2-year state technical/community college, a 4-year public university, a 4-year private university, and a 4-year public college.

When asked what is the best part of her job, she would explain she is passionate about guiding parents/students through the challenging and changing student financial aid maze with the purpose of enriching their lives and accomplishing their educational goals.


Developing Student Budgets

Presenter: June Schlabach, Director of the Financial Aid Team, Plymouth State University, has served as the Director of the Financial Aid Team at Plymouth State University since July 2003. Prior to PSU, June has served 34 years in financial aid, as director at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, Roxbury Community College in Boston, MA, Ashland University in Ashland, OH, and began her career in financial aid at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. June is passionate about the financial aid profession and has participated and presented at many state and regional conferences throughout her tenure in financial aid.


Moving On Up

Session Description:

As your career continues to grow, are you trying to envision what your roles and responsibilities may include and how you may fit in to the management of the office? Come join us as we explore effective communication, training that sticks, and creating valuable policies and procedures for your team.

Presenter: Theresa Cowan joined the EDFUND training team March of 2005. Theresa started in financial aid as a student worker in 1989 and moved into financial aid full time in 1992. She started as a financial aid administrator and eventually obtained a position as a director of financial aid in 1999. Theresa has gained experience in all aspects of the financial aid process working for UNC Charlotte, Mt. San Jacinto Community College and proprietary schools. As an administrator she worked within her community to educate the public and actively participated in presenting financial aid information at high schools, outreaches and regional and state conferences.


Public Speaking & NHASFAA Speaker’s Bureau – Part I

Session Description:
Do you have a fear of public speaking? Do wish to polish the skills that you do attain? This first part of this double session is helpful and hands on for anyone making presentations before corporate clients, speeches to large audiences, or explaining a project to fellow team members. Platform skills that reduce anxiety and improve self-confidence are of enormous professional and personal benefit. Being aware of them will help leaders and speakers be effective and deliver knowledgeable, dynamic and relaxed performances.

Presenter: Gerri King, Ph.D., President of Human Dynamics Assoc., Inc., one of the nation’s leading organizational consultants, presents at numerous multinational, national, and regional conferences and seminars throughout the year. She consults and trains for healthcare, corporate, industrial, educational, non-profit, and governmental clients throughout the United States, Asia, and other countries. A social psychologist and nationally recognized speaker and seminar presenter/educator, Dr. King’s expertise includes a wide range of topics such as supervisory skills, team building, resolving conflicts and effective communication, motivating workforces, the dynamics of change, strategic planning, why people avoid success, and the changing role of leadership in the 21st century.
