Hear what they have to Say . . .Come listen to a panel of graduated students from different college settings currently in diverse stages of life. Listen to them discuss their experiences with financial aid, how they coped with the burden of loan repayment, and how the cost of a college education impacted their life’s decisions. Who doesn’t want to hear the students’ voice about the affordability of an institution?

Student Employment: Setting Standards & Developing Best Practices For Your Campus Program
Session Description:
The establishment of standards and best practices for campus programs in student employment are vital to the advancement of the field. Professionals can benefit by assessing their programs and setting benchmarks for the improvement of their individual programs. This program involves an examination and discussion of the establishment of standards for the field of student employment based on the best practices of student employment offices.

Presenter: Matthew Long currently holds the position of Student Employment Manager and Federal Funds Coordinator in Yale University’s Student Financial Services Division. He is the President of the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators (NEASEA) and has a varied background in an array of student services, including Academic Advising and Career Counseling. Matthew holds an M.A. from the University of Maryland College Park in Counseling and Personnel Services and is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Johnson & Wales University.
Project Management Principles – Part II
Session Description:
Please only sign-up for this session if you attended the Part I session from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. as this session builds on the topics discussed in Part I.
Your boss just left your office and now you get to panic. You have been placed in charge of the next of the next student services project and you don’t have a clue where to start. The project charter is due in two weeks and you the project plan has to be submitted three after that.
If you are in a management or leadership role and have responsibility for project activity, and if this situation keeps you up at night, this session is for you.
We will build the life cycle of a project, introduce you to many tools that fit into your PM tool best, and we will deal with the people and process issues that can make or break your project.

Presenter: A popular NHASFAA presenter, Terry Everson is the Senior Vice President of Sales & Training for SLX and currently directs all in-house training, from lead workers through executive development for Student Loan Xpress. He also conducts financial aid association training on a state/regional/national level and also conducts campus-specific training for Student Loan Xpress Business Partners. He serves as the coordinator for change leadership and implementation training for all new and existing school partners.
Prior to joining Student Loan Xpress, Terry was the Chief Training Officer at Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc., where he was responsible for all corporate training and where he helped launch the first Voluntary Flexible Agreement (VFA) with the Department of Education.
Terry has a Master’s degree with Ph. D. coursework in Adult Education from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. He is active in the UWEC Alumni Association.

Learn how to use Mapping Your Future's Online Student Loan Counseling, Show Me the Future, and other default prevention and financial literacy features and services. This session will feature a demonstration of some of the latest enhancements that will help you and your students.

Presenter: CariAnne Behr, Project Manager, Mapping Your Future, has served been an integral part of the MYF team since May 2002. She assists the functional and project teams to develop projects, recruits volunteers, coordinates updates to the web site, and assists with training and customer service for postsecondary schools. Before working for Mapping Your Future, CariAnne served as a student assistance associate at the Missouri Department of Higher Education for more than five years. CariAnne earned her B.S. in business and administration from Saint Louis University (1996). Before attending college, she served in the United States Marines Corps.
