A unique partnership has been formed between NHHEAF Network Organizations and Consumer
Credit Counseling Services of NH/VT - all with the goal of educating students about the
fundamentals of financial literacy. With workshops like "The Freshman Forty" (40 Money
Management Tips Every College Freshman Should Know) "The Very Real Life" (Budgeting for
Success) and "Broke Not Broken" (Life After College) students learn the basics and set
a foundation for good financial health - during and after college.

Student loan defaults affect everyone. But w hat is a cohort default rate and how does
it affect my school? The cohort default rate is one way to gauge success or measure a
school's performance in managing its student loan program. Your school's official CDR
is provided by the Department of Education each September. Join us for this informative
session that explains how the cohort default rate is calculated and learn how this
performance measurement affects your school, your borrowers, and you as a taxpayer.
Six Power Tools for Effective Advocacy

M+R has designed its work for the College Board around an advocacy framework known as
the Power Prism. Developed in 2001 by activist co-conspirators, Lori Fresina and Judy
Meredith, the Power Prism is a model for planning, executing and evaluating advocacy
campaigns. Ms. Fresina's engaging presentation takes participants through the Power
Prism's six advocacy elements. Training participants need not be seasoned advocates.
They only need to have a vision for addressing certain problems that impede education
and the will to change the environment that has contributed to the particular problem.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), how to ensure that they are in compliance, and a
review of best practices in schools throughout the country. Participants will also leave

The Conversation Starts Here! A significant number of students in today's colleges
and universities are actively involved with consumer credit and student loans without fully
understanding the consequences of how their debt may affect them after graduation. Should
personal financial literacy education be available to students within our institutions? At
PSU the answer is "YES". During the 2007-2008 academic year, the PSU Financial Aid Team
jumped in with both feet and implemented $MART (Student Monetary Awareness and
Responsibility Today) which includes several financial wellness initiatives. "Conversations"
are the heart of these programs that touched over 350 students during this first year. Join
Crystal as she shares the importance of personal financial literacy education, the
implementation of the $MART initiatives and what we see for the future.

loans? Want to learn more about them so you can improve future borrower success? This
session shows you how to identify the unique characteristics of your school's defaulted
borrowers. Reviewing the characteristics of your school's defaulters allows you to
understand which borrowers at your institution may have problems repaying their student
loans in the future. This information may be used in developing more effective default
prevention efforts, both frond-end and back-end. You'll learn how to improve student
success by furthering your understanding of your school's unique borrower demographics

educational benefits, State of NH National Guard Education Benefits, NH War Orphans
Scholarships, and military tuition benefits. Special Emphasis will be on the "significantly
different" post-911 GI Bill Act of 2008 and it's effect on/relation to the FAFSA.

In an effort to strengthen the student loan program and off unbiased lender
options to borrowers based on the combination of services and benefits, recently regulatory
and institutional changes have increased the number of lenders on campuses. As the result,
financial aid administrators today will need to manage an increased number of student loans
coming from different lenders, guarantors, and servicer channels. In this session, we will
discuss the role of lenders, guarantors, and servicers, review commonly known loan
processing platforms, and how to streamline your loan processing based on available process
flows and institutional needs.

Evolution or Revolution?
The Future of Federal Financial Aid

The past two years have seen unprecedented change in the financial aid process
and programs for colleges and students. Congress has passed multiple major legislative
packages, and most recently reauthorized the Higher Education Act with significant changes for
the first time since 1998. In this session, we will cover what has happened over the past
several years, what the effects of the Higher Education Act reauthorization will be, and most
importantly will discuss the future of higher education funding over the next five years and
beyond. This session will also be a discussion of the upcoming election and how that will
impact the nation's higher education delivery system. Most importantly, this session will be
an opportunity to openly and honestly raise questions about federal student aid policy and
better understand what Congress is likely to do next.

America Reads/Community Service Work Study
